HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL LESSON PLAN MS


FOR TEACHERS : Objectives: Based on the English Curriculum published by the Ministry of Education

1) Domain of Social Interaction and Presentation and Appreciation
2) Appreciation for Literature and Culture. (some cultures different from ours)
3) Presentation: Students express feeling, likes and dislikes.

Subject matter/ Reference: Clip from the movie Fateless.

Materials: Computer, pencil and paper.

Skills Developed:    Ability to present and communicate ones feelings in English. Ability to relate to the feelings and experiences of others ie empathy.  Emotional Intelligence skills. Expanded Lexicon.  Describe people, places, things and events in English. Present information about personal topics orally and in writing in English using basic organization skills. Develop HOTS including inference, judgment, evaluation and creation.

Time frame: ~ 45min +

1)  How many Jews are there in the world? What percentage of the world population is Jewish?  How Many Jews died in the Holocaust? How many Jews are living in Israel?

Task:  If you had 10 minutes to pack your bags not knowing where you were going or when you would return, what would you bring?

Task 2:

Watch the following from the movie FATELESS clip. The words are not important. Focus on the images and try to describe them. Include emotions, yours and those of the film.  Pay particular attention to how people help each other and any demonstrations of love/kindness/caring.

 Choose one of the pictures displayed above. In Hebrew explain why you chose that picture. Write sentences in English describing the picture using the Lexicon and template below. Present the sentences with the picture to the class.
